With the Adelaide Festival behind us, we are now reflecting on the success of our two Festival productions Ainadamar and Ingkata. Both were enthusiastically received by the public and we are now looking at how State Opera can continue to support the further development of Ingkata with a view to perhaps presenting the complete work at some stage in the future.
We are also continuing to closely monitor sales for our three major subscription productions, Turandot, The Marriage of Figaro and Rigoletto and I’m pleased to report that subscription sales continue to build, exceeding last year’s total. However, excellent subscription seats are still available so I recommend you book your three opera subscription soon and make a 20% saving on the cost of tickets to individual operas.
We are also concentrating on finalising production planning for the next Studio project, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, to be presented later this year in a new interpretation directed by renowned stage director and baroque specialist
Lindy Hume . Prior to this, The Opera Studio will be occupied by Patrick Lim’s Swell Productions in a new production of Dear Edwina, a delightful new music theatre work from the USA involving a large cast of talented young girls. More details to come.
